The Leaderboard

Understanding the competition leaderboard, real-time updates, and what you can see.

Reading the Leaderboard

Every competition has a leaderboard that shows all participants ranked by their current score. Here's what you'll see:

  • Rank — Your position relative to other participants. Updated in real time.

  • Profile Photo & Name — Each participant's display name and avatar.

  • Current Score — The total score based on the scoring method (ring closes, goal percentage, raw numbers, steps, or workout points).

  • Score Delta — How far ahead or behind you are compared to the people directly above and below you.

Real-Time Updates

Leaderboard scores update automatically as participants' fitness data syncs throughout the day. You don't need to manually refresh — though you can pull down on the screen to trigger a manual refresh if you want the absolute latest data.

How quickly updates appear depends on each participant's tracker:

  • Apple Watch users — Updates appear within minutes, since data is read directly from Apple Health.

  • Other tracker users — Updates typically take 15–30 minutes, depending on how often their tracker syncs with its servers.

Privacy on the Leaderboard

Your privacy settings control how much information competitors can see:

  • Detailed stats — By default, competitors see your exact score. You can change this in Settings → Privacy → Show detailed stats to competitors. When disabled, others see your rank but not your exact numbers.

  • Display name — You can choose whether to show your real name or display name on leaderboards in Settings → Privacy → Show real name on leaderboards.
