Fitness Data Not Syncing

Comprehensive troubleshooting guide for data sync issues.

Updated over 2 months ago

Quick Fix Checklist

Before diving into detailed troubleshooting, try these quick fixes:

  1. Pull down to refresh on any screen showing your fitness data.

  2. Force-close and reopen MoveTogether. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen, find MoveTogether, and swipe up to close. Then reopen the app.

  3. Open your tracker's companion app (Fitbit app, WHOOP app, etc.) and make sure it has synced with your device recently.

  4. Check your internet connection. Fitness data sync requires an active internet connection.

If those don't work, follow the detailed steps below for your specific tracker.

Apple Watch Data Not Syncing

Step 1: Check Apple Health permissions.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

  2. Tap Health → Data Access & Devices → MoveTogether.

  3. Make sure all relevant categories are enabled (Steps, Active Energy, Exercise Minutes, Workouts).

Step 2: Make sure Apple Health has recent data.

  1. Open the Health app on your iPhone.

  2. Tap Browse → Activity.

  3. Verify you can see recent step and calorie data. If the data is missing here, the issue is between your Apple Watch and Apple Health — not MoveTogether.

Step 3: Resync your Apple Watch.

  1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.

  2. Tap Privacy → Health.

  3. Make sure Heart Rate, Fitness Tracking, and other relevant categories are enabled.

Step 4: Restart your devices. Restart both your iPhone and Apple Watch, then open MoveTogether.

Fitbit Data Not Syncing

Step 1: Sync your Fitbit.

  1. Open the Fitbit app on your phone.

  2. Pull down on the dashboard to trigger a manual sync.

  3. Wait for the sync to complete (you should see a timestamp update).

Step 2: Check your Fitbit connection in MoveTogether.

  1. Go to Settings → Connected Devices.

  2. Verify your Fitbit shows as connected. If it shows as disconnected, tap it to reconnect.

Step 3: Reauthorize if needed. If data still isn't appearing, disconnect your Fitbit in Settings → Connected Devices, then reconnect it by signing in again. This refreshes the authorization.

Garmin Data Not Syncing

Step 1: Sync Garmin Connect.

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app on your phone.

  2. Make sure your device data has synced recently.

Step 2: Check your Garmin connection in MoveTogether.

  1. Go to Settings → Connected Devices.

  2. Verify Garmin shows as connected. Reconnect if needed.

Step 3: Reauthorize if needed. If data still isn't appearing, disconnect Garmin in Settings → Connected Devices, then reconnect it by signing in again.

WHOOP Data Not Syncing

Step 1: Check WHOOP sync.

  1. Open the WHOOP app on your phone.

  2. Verify your latest data is showing.

Step 2: Check your WHOOP connection in MoveTogether.

  1. Go to Settings → Connected Devices.

  2. Verify WHOOP shows as connected. Reconnect if needed.

Oura Data Not Syncing

Step 1: Check Oura sync.

  1. Open the Oura app on your phone.

  2. Verify your latest activity data is showing.

Step 2: Check your Oura connection in MoveTogether.

  1. Go to Settings → Connected Devices.

  2. Verify Oura shows as connected. Reconnect if needed.

If Nothing Works

If you've tried all of the above and the data still isn't syncing:

  1. Make sure you're running the latest version of MoveTogether from the App Store.

  2. Try deleting and reinstalling the app (don't worry — your account data is stored securely on our servers).

  3. Contact our support team with the following information:

    • Your MoveTogether username

    • Which fitness tracker are you using

    • Your iPhone model and iOS version

    • When the issue started

    • Any error messages you've seen
